Collection Requirements:
Collect specimen according to standard operating procedure.
Acceptable specimens/Container types:
Blood: Purple Top Tube (K2 EDTA) Opitmal volume: 3.0mL (Minimum volume: 0.8 mL)
CSF and Ocular fluid: Sterile screw capped container. Optimal volume: 0.5 mL
(Minimum volume: 0.3 mL)
Tissues: Sterile screw capped container Corneal Scrapings:
UTM (universal transport media)
Standard Swab Kit for surface, vesicle and eye.
Specimen will be rejected if on the incorrect swab or media.
Shipping/Handling Instructions:
Clients: Store refrigerated and send on wet ice.
If transport time is greater than 1 day for CSF, freeze at -20 celsius. And transport
on dry ice. Do not freeze whole blood.
